Buddy, can you spare a smoke?

Working this weekend seemed like a great idea….6 weeks ago.  I have to work 24 hours/month to stay active in the float pool at work.  Seems doable.  Though this semester is so kick-ass, some days I have my doubts.  The first three weeks have been so intense and exhausting.  Add on to that that my [...]

Pain in the Butt

Why to people with hemorrhoids that hang halfway down their thighs not do something about it?
Ouch in a big way is all I have to say…

July Catch Up

Between working a lot, picking up a shift to help a friend, mostly doing sitter cases, and being under the weather for most of the week I’ve not been too inclined to write.  Bad me.
Spent one night in CCU.  That was, again, just awesome.  All the things to see and do.  Plus the RNs in [...]

A Special Brand of Justice

Not much is so rewarding in life as applying a suppository to a trial attorney….
I’m just saying…

Orientation and Beyond

Let me just start by saying that any one day on the floor as an NA is easily worth a week of clinicals in school!
I have completed my orientation and have also had my first two days on my own.  Orientation consisted of two days with an RN (skills check off I presume) and two [...]

Some really nasty sh!t

And that’s not just a saying.
First real bad poop case on Saturday afternoon.
Last day of orientation tonight.
Hope to get a recount up on here in the next day or two…stay tuned.

On to Floor Orientation

Finally received my schedule yesterday for the second half of my floor orientation.
Working this Thursday through Saturday and then again Monday night.
Weee
The best part is that all of my orientation is on the ortho recovery unit where I was trying to get a static position anyway! YAY
Once orientation is complete I can be floated [...]
